Understand strategies for working effectively, sensitively and confidentially with parents/carers.
Throughout my role as an Integration Aide, I attended multiple Student Support Group meetings and parent-teacher interview days. I was able to converse with not only teachers and professionals but also parents of the students I worked with on a regular basis. This has given me great insight for my future career as a teacher as how to interact with parents/carers of any student but particularly those with special needs. Through the SSG’s I was able to disclose to parents how their child was improving and working at school. I also used email and diaries to regularly converse with parents so that they knew what was going on.
